About Me

I am Carol Houston. This is my nineth year as a Counselor at SCES. I taught Special Education for six years. Prior to teaching, I worked at the Department of Family and Children Services in Adoption, Foster Care, and Child Protection Services for three years and worked as a Paraprofessional with Emotional/Behavior Disordered Students for two years. I am looking forward to a great 2017-2018 school year. If I can be of any assistance to you or your child, please let me know.

3rd, 4th, 5th Grade Guidance Activities

  • Lessons

    *Most third and fourth grade classes are finishing their Career lessons.  They will begin "mini" lessons on a variety of different skills: Drug Awareness/ Peer pressure, How to behave and manners in the cafeteria, skills for getting along with others, etc.

    *Fifth grade will complete a Career Portfolio.  The Career Portfolio includes research about their career choice, an essay using the research, a project, and a presentation in class.  The Portfolio will count as a grade in ELA class.  On the due date of the Career Portfolio, the following should be done/turned in:  
    1) Career Portfolio Research Outline (completed in class)
    2) Written essay (using the research outline)
    3) A project (choices for projects are on the back of the Career Portfolio Research Outline - poster, Power Point, etc.)
    4) Presentation to the class about their career choice using the above.  

    Due dates scheduled so far:
    Albritton's Homeroom - Tuesday, November 28
    Croom's Homeroom- Wednesday, November 29
    Gardner's Homeroom - Thursday, November 30
