About Me

I am Carol Houston. This is my ninth year as a Counselor at SCES. I taught Special Education for six years. Prior to teaching, I worked at the Department of Family and Children Services in Adoption, Foster Care, and Child Protection Services for three years and worked as a Paraprofessional with Emotional/Behavior Disordered Students for two years. I am looking forward to a great 2018-2019 school year. If I can be of any assistance to you or your child, please let me know.

3rd, 4th, 5th Grade Guidance Activities

  • Lessons
    Grades 3, 4, and 5 will finish career lessons/skills.  Each grade level will learn the appropriate career clusters (see below).  We will watch movies, do group activities, discussion, research, etc., concerning these clusters.  Fifth grade will choose their career and complete a Career Portfolio that consists of 4 parts:  Research Outline, Essay, Project, and Presentation.  All students will have directions to their Portfolio to take home to work on during the break.  If needed, students will be given time to work on them in January when we return from Winter Break.   No due date is assigned yet but will be around mid to end of January.   



    Grade 5:  Information Technology, Government and Public Administration, Marketing, Finance

    Grade 4:  Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics; Manufacturing; Business Management and Administration; Architecture and Construction

    Grade 3:  Energy, Human Services, Hospitality and Tourism
